Restoring Woodland Soils with Fungi – Doncaster Council’s Habitat Bank
Posted on:26 Nov 2025
The Red House Farm Habitat Bank in Doncaster is transforming 24 hectares of former arable land into thriving woodland, meadow, and scrub. By blending Woodland Grow’s fungi-rich inoculant with locally sourced woodchip, the project reintroduced missing soil biology, boosting tree establishment and resilience. Early results show strong survival rates despite drought conditions, with soil samples confirming renewed microbial activity and improved long-term habitat potential.
