In November 2024, a significant woodland creation project was undertaken in Grimley, north of Worcester, covering 7.18 hectares. The initiative, led by Wessex Woodland Management, was funded under the England Woodland Creation Offer (EWCO)—a government grant designed to support landowners in creating new woodlands across England. The objective is to establish a mixed woodland to provide wildlife habitat and enhance the woodland cover locally.

Rockyfold Wood, situated within the Kentchurch Estate in Herefordshire, recently suffered an outbreak of Ash Dieback. Large areas of infected trees had to be felled, leaving the site in need of restocking. A key challenge of this project was the presence of local deer populations, which posed a threat to young saplings. ​Ysgol Ffordd Dyffryn (YFD) is a primary school in Llandudno, Wales that is working hard to offer its young pupils a green space in which to play and learn. In partnership with Conwy Borough County Council and Wild Elements, a not-for-profit social enterprise, the school wanted to create green spaces for the children of YFD to immerse themselves in natural materials and greenery. The site was selected due to its severely grey infrastructure and lack of green space.

Barratt Homes Northeast acquired a parcel of derelict land opposite the North Shore Academy on the outskirts of Stockton-on-Tees. The land is of particular historical interest, being the site of the wagon works for the world’s first ever passenger railway line, from Stockton to Darlington. The works were later used during World War 2 for the manufacture of de Havilland Mosquito bombers.

As part of the final stages to the long-running A14 Cambridge to Huntingdon improvement scheme, Cambridge motorway services, run by Extra MSA, underwent a complete refurbishment scheme that was completed summer 2022. Cambridge is one of eight state-of-the-art motorway services across the UK run by Extra MSA, including Skelton Lakes near Leeds, for which Green-tech also supplied soil, compost, bark, and tree shelters.

The project comprised of nearly forty tree pits over two phases between 2018 and 2020. The first phase was contracted to Bernhards Landscapes of Warwickshire, and the second to McPhillips (Wellington) of Shropshire; both of which Green-tech has worked with for around fifteen years.

New tree-lined plaza welcomes new arrivals to Bridlington

Scape are well known for providing exemplary student accommodation, with locations throughout the UK, Ireland and Australia. The new canal side accommodation at Mile End in London is situated on the Queen Mary University campus. Comprising 412 studio rooms and flats over two main blocks, it also offers communal and study areas, as well as a gym and spacious bike storage, an oftenoverlooked necessity in London.

Green-tech was asked to advise the best way to integrate tree pits into the project. There were several challenges to overcome; the main one being the level of lateral loading from traffic, which made the use of geo-cellular units impractical. Another was the extremely narrow width of some of the central reservations, and how to maximise the rooting volume.

127 Kensington High Street was formerly the site of the original, highly regarded Pontings department store. The store was demolished in the 70s and replaced with two separate office blocks. To provide much improved mixed-use space, these structures were part removed leaving 30% remaining, and added to with extended areas and an additional two floors, as well as three levels of outdoor terracing.

To celebrate Coventry’s 2021 UK City of Culture status, a new linear park has been proposed to run from Naul’s Mill Park, along the route of Radford Brook, to connect with Belgrade Plaza in the city’s theatre quarter. The area included a redundant 6.5-acre gas works site and a vast, grey, dark underpass area traversing underneath the ring road. All in all, it was not considered a pleasant route in or out of the city centre.

Landscape Contractors Brambledown Landscapes Services were commissioned to undertake the soft landscaping of this huge project which had to tie in with the natural environment of the nearby Skelton Lake and Gardens. They turned to their long-term supplier Green-tech for the landscaping materials and sundries.

Works in Bristo Square included tree planting, creation of more social spaces and improved accessibility. It was designed to give a light, open space, with tiered seating steps around the central events area. Bordering this paved pedestrian area are ten semi-mature trees set in hard landscaping. These trees help to soften the cityscape and provide much needed shade during the summer months.

Tottle Brook is a small watercourse which flows in a south west to north east direction in Highfields Park, Nottingham. The project’s goals were to enhance the biodiversity value of the Brook by creating a new wetland habitat and improve the form (shape) of the watercourse.

Leading landscape supplier Green-tech has been called in to help Newbrook Gardening Services with the planting of two established trees in an urban setting. Salford Council commissioned a new traffic island on Cromwell Road in Salford; which was designed to stop vehicle access.

Queens Walk, a development of 284 student flats in Reading has utilised the Mona Plant System within its new courtyard area, an all- year-round social space for its residents.

Eternal Lawns, a professional artificial grass installation company based in Morley, were hired by a property developer to install a York-stone patio and artificial grass. The large garden needed to be separated into three, one for each of the apartments. Eternal Lawns recommended the use of 20 one metre high ivy gt green screens from Green-tech to divide the gardens in Harrogate, and give it instant impact and privacy.

A project worth £318 million to upgrade the A1 through north Yorkshire has been a logistical triumph and a long waited high quality improvement to the Northern motorway network. Orchard Groundcare Ltd who are a specialist national Solar Park landscape contractor has been responsible for the seeding and planting at one of Britain’s biggest solar farms. They won the contract to manage the landscaping and maintenance of the site which is located in South East England and is capable of powering the whole of Herne Bay. The huge solar farm is set over eight fields which cover a total of 213 acres.

The recent redevelopment of Tollgate Retail Park is a massive boost for the local area, revamping a retail area that required more parking and better walkways and access between retail units. After four years hard work, developing a rundown farmhouse and field into Little Lion Gardens, owner Robert Furness thought it was time to improve and stabilise their parking area for the increasing numbers of visitors to the gardens. Haley and Judit bought a house in Witham, Essex without a fence or hedge boundary between their property and the neighbouring farmer’s field.
