Green-tech raises over £400 for Harrogate Homeless Project

Green-tech raises over £400 for Harrogate Homeless Project

Friday 13th December saw the staff at Green-tech take part in the National Christmas Jumper day but with the added bonus of enjoying a slap-up Turkey lunch and all the trimmings – entirely for charity.

Green-tech is the leading supplier of landscaping materials across the UK and is based just outside of Boroughbridge at Rabbit Hill Business Park off the A168.

Staff whipped up a feast and almost 70 of the team enjoyed a Christmas lunch followed by mince pies; while listening to some festive tunes.

A Christmas hamper was also raffled off and in total just over £400 was raised for the Harrogate Homeless Project; a local charity that supports homeless people in and around Harrogate.

The charity runs a homeless hostel on Bower Street, which houses 16 people and also provides an emergency refuge for rough sleepers in accordance with the No Second Night Out scheme. They also run a day service called Springboard in Harrogate town centre, providing food, shower facilities, activities and one-on-one meetings with support workers that are designed to help homeless or formerly homeless people get the help and advice that they need.

One of the Green-tech team, Sharon Clayton, has been moved by the plight of this project and has taken it upon herself to raise funds and gather food donations for them.

Green-tech Chairman, Richard Kay said, “I am always proud to hear that any of our people are trying to make a difference to the local community and Sharon is a regular contributor. We wanted to help her so decided to donate all of our proceeds from the Christmas lunch and hamper raffle to this incredibly worthwhile cause that is on our doorstep. The Green-tech gang always dig deep and I’m delighted that we are able to help.”

Sharon Clayton added, “It’s very important to me that I help others where I can. I feel that even though I will only make a small difference, it will be big difference to one person. It’s a wonderful thing that Green-tech has done and I just want to thank Richard Kay for covering the lunch costs and all the staff for digging deep.It will really help the Harrogate Homeless Shelter.”

If you want to make a donation or can donate any food items then please contact the Harrogate Homeless Project on 01423 566900.
